Yorkshire Rabbit Retreat
We are a small rabbit rescue charity based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
Our aim is to find the best possible homes for bunnies who desperately deserve a second chance, and to educate about the current UK rabbit crisis. There is just not enough help being offered to keep up with the number of unwanted rabbits.
What we do
In the UK rabbits are facing a crisis, there is just not enough help being offered to keep up with the number of unwanted rabbits. This is due to misinformation, allergies, landlords not allowing pets, parents believing they are a good pet for their children and the list goes on. Rabbits are the most neglected and misunderstood pets and therefore need as much help as possible from us to ensure they are being properly cared for.
On a daily basis we are asked to take in rabbits that are no longer wanted, most are not neutered or vaccinated when they come to us. Sadly the majority of these rabbits are turned away due to limited space and funds at the rescue. We rescue, rehabilitate where needed and rehome. A lot of our time is spent trying to raise funds for the rabbits to get them neutered, vaccinated and ready for their forever homes - the responsible way!
Our mission is to shout about the correct care and welfare for rabbits and to ban outdated care crimes such as #AHutchisNotEnough
